In recent years, Senzatomica has worked towards enhancing its educational offer by developing didactic materials that enable campaign representatives to engage with young people more effectively. This initiative aims to bring to life the analogy that the realization of a world free from nuclear weapons is only possible if each individual initiates a process of transforming the principles upon which their lives are based.
In this regard, among other materials, the Parliaments for Peace have also been developed in English. It is an educational initiative and tool aimed at raising public awareness and youth empowerment on nuclear disarmament in various contexts, especially in secondary schools and universities.
Our main goal with this tool is to promote informed discussions among people, providing sources that can help them to reflect on the problems and consequences posed by nuclear weapons.
Inspired by the European Climate Pact’s Peer Parliaments, it adapts this model to nuclear disarmament, and addresses critical questions such as:
a. Why are nuclear weapons a problem?
b. What impact would nuclear disarmament have on achieving SDGs?
c. Where do you want to start to build peace?
Key features of the Parliaments for Peace resources are:
-
Educational Value: It provides ready-to-use resources and guided debates to explore the problems posed by nuclear weapons, their impact on SDGs, and actionable steps toward peace.
-
Interactive Learning: Students engage in decision-making and group discussions, promoting collaborative solutions.
-
Creative Outreach: Encourages students to raise awareness within their schools and communities through creative projects like art, film, and literature.
